Four- to 6-pound speckled trout are being caught daily in Little Lagoon at Gulf Shores, Alabama. "We're mainly catching the big trout using live croakers and drifting over the deeper holes in Little Lagoon," says Captain Gary Davis of Tidewater Fishing Service in Foley, Ala. "Since croakers like to feed on the bottom, when you cast them out, they'll swim down to the bottom of those deep holes that may be 8- to 14-feet deep. Then the big trout will attack them. Most of Little Lagoon is only 3- to 8-feet deep, but we've found the bigger trout holding in the deeper holes this first week in November.
